Tyrannidae - Tyrant Flycatchers
The Slender-footed Tyrannulet occurs in northeastern Ecuador, where it inhabits humid lowland forests of the upper Amazon Basin, particularly terra firme and seasonally flooded várzea below about 800 meters. Though generally uncommon and inconspicuous, it is locally present in suitable canopy and edge habitats, often detected by its soft, accelerating vocalizations rather than by sight. The species is listed as Least Concern by the IUCN, with a broad range across northern South America and a population that appears stable despite ongoing habitat pressures. Natural history observations highlight its insectivorous diet, subtle plumage, and preference for mid- to upper canopy foraging, with nesting behavior still poorly documented.
