The Common Tody-Flycatcher is a widespread resident in Ecuador, occurring from lowland forests and foothills up to about 1,500 m, favoring edges, thickets, and secondary growth. It is fairly common and easily detected by its sharp calls and restless movements as it forages for small insects in pairs or family groups. The species is currently assessed as Least Concern by the IUCN, with stable populations across its broad range despite localized habitat loss. Its tiny size, bright yellow underparts, and energetic behavior make it a conspicuous member of Ecuador’s lowland bird communities.
