In Ecuador, the Andean Cinnamon Flycatcher is a fairly common resident of humid montane forests and cloud forest edges, typically found between 1,500 and 3,000 meters on both Andean slopes. This small, vividly rufous flycatcher perches conspicuously in pairs, often sallying out to catch insects mid-air or gleaning prey from foliage. Its stable population and broad Andean distribution have earned it a Least Concern status from the IUCN. Though not migratory, its presence is a reliable indicator of intact subtropical forest habitat, and its sputtering trill adds a subtle charm to Ecuador’s highland soundscape.
