Attila cinnamomeus
Tyrannidae - Tyrant Flycatchers
The Cinnamon Attila occurs in eastern Ecuador, where it inhabits humid lowland forests, riverine woodlands, and swampy margins below about 600 meters, often favoring areas near water. Though generally uncommon and inconspicuous, it is locally present in suitable Amazonian habitat, typically seen perched quietly while scanning for insects and small vertebrates. The species is listed as Least Concern by the IUCN, with a vast Amazon-Orinoco range and a population that, while decreasing modestly, remains stable overall. Natural history observations highlight its solitary behavior, rich cinnamon plumage, and sit-and-wait foraging strategy, with nesting likely occurring in concealed sites, though detailed breeding ecology remains poorly documented.
