*Top 50 Target Species (pretty factor off-the-charts)
In Ecuador, the Paradise Tanager (Tangara chilensis) is a dazzling resident of humid lowland and foothill forests east of the Andes, where it frequents the canopy between 500 and 1,500 meters. Known for its kaleidoscopic plumage—turquoise head, black back, and neon green, yellow, and red underparts—it moves in small, restless flocks, often joining mixed-species groups to forage on fruit and insects. Though its population is suspected to be slowly declining due to Amazonian deforestation, it remains widespread and is listed as Least Concern by the IUCN. Its vivid coloration and energetic behavior make it a favorite among birders exploring reserves like Yasuní and Tiputini.
