The One-colored Becard is a scarce resident of western Ecuador, occurring mainly in humid lowland and foothill forests of the Chocó region from near sea level up to about 800 m. It is typically found in pairs or small groups, foraging quietly in the canopy for insects and fruits, often joining mixed-species flocks. The species is considered uncommon and patchily distributed, and due to ongoing deforestation in its restricted range, it is assessed as Near Threatened by the IUCN. Its plain plumage and unobtrusive behavior make it an easily overlooked but ecologically important member of Ecuador’s forest bird community.
