The Ecuadorian Thrush is restricted to western Ecuador, where it inhabits lowland and foothill forests, forest edges, and secondary growth typically below 1,200 meters. It is generally common in suitable habitat, often seen foraging alone or in pairs on the ground or in low vegetation for fruit and invertebrates. The species is listed as Least Concern by the IUCN, with a stable population and a limited but secure range within the Chocó bioregion. Natural history observations highlight its rich, fluty song, preference for humid forest understory, and cup-shaped nests built in dense foliage, though its breeding ecology remains only lightly documented.
