The Black-billed Thrush occurs in the humid lowland and foothill forests of eastern Ecuador, typically below 1,200 meters, where it frequents forest edges, clearings, and secondary growth. It is generally common and conspicuous, often seen foraging on the ground or singing from exposed perches with a rich, melodious voice. The species is listed as Least Concern by the IUCN, with a broad Amazonian range and a stable population that adapts well to disturbed habitats. Natural history observations highlight its plain brown plumage, insectivorous and frugivorous diet, and cup-shaped nests built in low vegetation, with breeding activity peaking during the rainy season.
