The Yellow-tailed Oriole is a localized resident of western Ecuador, occurring mainly in dry and semi-humid lowland forests, scrub, and agricultural areas from sea level up to about 1,500 m. It is generally uncommon but can be conspicuous where suitable habitat remains, often seen in pairs or small groups foraging for fruits, nectar, and insects. The species is currently assessed as Least Concern by the IUCN, though ongoing deforestation and habitat conversion may cause localized declines. Its vivid yellow tail and melodious song make it a striking member of Ecuador’s lowland bird communities.
