The Pale-vented Pigeon is a large, forest-edge species found across Ecuador’s lowland and foothill regions, particularly in humid zones of the Amazon and coastal areas. It occurs year-round and is locally common in partially open habitats such as riverbanks, secondary growth, and scattered woodlands, where it feeds on fruits and seeds. Globally listed as Least Concern, its population remains stable due to its broad range and tolerance of moderately disturbed environments. Typically solitary or in small flocks, it is known for its soft, rhythmic cooing and strong flight, often seen crossing open spaces between fruiting trees.
